We’ve got some more OCB Week event updates for all those who wish to join in on the week long celebration of Ontario Craft Beer!
- June 18 Harbord House – 4 course beer dinner with one-off beers. Each course will be prepared and paired with a unique one-off beer.
- June 19 Danforth Pub crawl with Troy from GLB & Jerry from Beau’s. Starting at Sarah’s on the Danforth and heading west to Morgan’s, The Only & Brass
Taps.
- June 19 West End Pub Crawl with David from GLB & Rob from Beau’s. Starting at Bryden’s on Bloor West and heading east to Mugshots, The Local & The
Rhino.
Mike Lackey has also been hard at work preparing a special beer for OCB Week. In collaboration with Ryan of Nickel Brook Brewery, they have put together a beautiful looking beer. It is a Belgian Tripel called Creepy Bitch. Brewed with blood oranges, passion fruit and rose petals, this beer will be featured at Bryden’s Best of the West event during OCB Week.
I will be posting more events throughout the next couple weeks as they come up. Get ready for another amazing week of celebrating the craft beer industry and all of those who continue to strive for uniqueness and excellence!

Great Lakes Brewery 25th Anniversary Robust Porter is now in the brewery retail store! The Robust Porter will be hitting the LCBO shelves this week so make sure you grab some for the weekend! And if you can’t wait that long, come on over to the retail store – 30 Queen Elizabeth Blvd. – and grab some today.

So everyone here at the brewery is getting pumped for our 9th Annual Great Lakes Brewery Spring BBQ! The BBQ will be held at the brewery on Saturday May 26 from 12pm-6pm. This event will act as our Project X for the month, therefore there will not be a Project X next week.
We’ve got a fantastic day planned, so you don’t have to worry about a thing! We have taken the liberty of organizing shuttle buses to and from Royal York subway station from 12 until 6, that way everyone can enjoy a few beers and get home safe at the end of the day. Now this is a family BBQ, so please bring the entire family out for the day! We’ve got face painting, dunk tanks, and lots of goodies for kids. We have not decided on the beers we will be featuring yet, however when we know, you will know. I will be blogging again closer to the event date to provide you with more details.
This is also a charity event. All of the proceeds from beer sales that day will be going to The Franklin Horner Community Center. Everyone can have fun celebrating 25 years of Great Lakes beer knowing that the proceeds will be going towards an excellent cause.
Come join us for a day of great beer, delicious food, live music, and lots of activities which are sure to get you in the spirit of Summer!

Alright alright. So it has been a week since my last post and we have lots to catch up on.
A big thanks goes out to bar Volo for once again hosting an amazing event. Unfortunately we did not bring home 1st place this year, which means we have to come up with something super crazy awesome for the next IPA Challenge. Congrats goes to Volo – taking 1st place for their house brew.
Next on the agenda: We’ve got some Project X Porters in the retail store fridge!
- Currently Incarcerated (Black Current Porter)
- Nazgul Baltic Porter
- Harry Porter and the Bourbon Soaked Vanilla Bean
They go fast so come grab them while you can!
P.S. – We are working on getting our Robust Porter in the fridges and in the LCBOs. We are hoping for some time next week, so keep an eye out and thank you for your patience.
